COMMUNITY ACTION PROJECT (CAP) 2008-2009
Every year Leadership Amarillo & Canyon has had direct impact on improving the lives of individuals and organization in the community through the Community Action Projects. This year the 2008-2009 LAC Class has developed the foundation for a volunteer database match which is designed to match volunteers with the needs of the organization. Leadership Amarillo & Canyon has partnered with Murf Systems to create personality profiles to help determine the match. The LAC 2008-2009 has done a magnificent job on the CAP project for this year.
OTHER CAP PARTNERSHIPS INCLUDE:
- City of Amarillo and the Brumley Foundation to provide a barrier free park at John Stiff Memorial Park.
- National Weather Service to provide weather radios for area schools.
- Princess Ministries, Neely, Craig, & Walton, United Supermarkets, Mr. Gattis, Belmar Bakery and Gray's Studio to provide birthday parties for children living in challenging situations during their birthday.
- The Friendship Circle at Wildcat Bluff.
- Wesley Community Center to provide the runway for the Behind the Scenes Program.
- B&W Pantex and Carver Early Childhood Academy for the Christmas Card Project.
- Developed P.R.O.P.E.L. (People Reaching Out Pursuing Education for a Lifetime), a simulation where middle school students placed into actual scenarios that could impact their lives based on the decisions they make.
- Amarillo Police Department for the Alzheimer Alert Program.
